US Open Energy Data Seminar/Workshop Series

Hi y’all,

Catalyst Cooperative is finally kicking off our Sloan Foundation funded workshop & seminar series starting October 30th, 4:30-5:30pm Eastern Time. If you’re an early career researcher and are struggling with finding or wrangling data for your projects, or if you just want to connect with others facing similar challenges, please join us!

We are going to try and stay away from this being one person lecturing, and take advantage of the synchronous format to be more interactive. We definitely want to hear from students about their needs and frustrations as we plan out the rest of the series.

The first event will be an introduction to open US energy data, including:

  • What are the major primary and secondary sources of open energy system data in the US?
  • How do they differ in terms of programmatic usability, frequency of updates, ease of integration with other data sources?
  • What should you look for when evaluating an open dataset you found online?
  • How can data availability or readiness impact your research project?
