Updated cleaned EIA electricity demand data

Hi all,

We added 5 more data years (2020-2024) to our archive of cleaned EIA electricity demand data!

The new data covers the 7 ISOs in the US with 73 reporting subregions and provides profiles for the other balancing authorities for >100 clean demand profiles in total spanning 2020-2024. When combined with the prior records, we now have coverage from July 2015 through the end of 2024, 9.5 years of data!

The data-cleaning process identifies anomalous or missing values and fills them in through imputation, making the cleaned electricity demand data series readily usable in energy system models.

More details about the methods can be found in the original publication (2020).

Best,
Alicia

Thanks for sharing this Alicia Wongel.

I am not familiat with this data, so please excuse the simple question but would this allow one to see the projected historical demand growth rates compared to the actual demand for the last 4 years?

Iā€™m asking in the context of someone working in civil society to understand how forecast demand projections can be used to justify expansion of existing gas generation, for example, and to understand patterns in how the deployment of digital infrastructure of datacenters is affecting demand.
