PhD position at University of Birmingham with secondment to Siemens in Munich

Dear All,
there is an iCase funded position for a PhD student to join the Energy Systems and Data group at the University of Birmingham, which has Siemens as the Industrial sponsor. The PhD will have a minimum of 3 months in Munich with Siemens.

An interesting area looking at using unconventional publicly available information (e.g., social media complaints) in combination with existing data sources (e.g, OpenStreetMap) to construct an open-source benchmark data platform for multimodal distribution networks. The platform will integrate a consistent set of realistic demand profile data for electricity and other sectors (e.g., space heating), with synthetic, geo-referenced models of multimodal subnetworks (e.g., electricity + district heating) and provide an interface to enable further analysis.

Happy to have a chat with anyone about the project directly - just drop me an email - i.a.g.wilson@bham.ac.uk

best wishes, Grant

deadline is the 10th of July with an aim to start before October 2023.
