OpenPlan Stakeholder Workshop on New Features for Municipal Heat Planning

Dear openmod community,

As part of the OpenPlan 2.0 research project, the OpenPlan Tool is continuously being developed to support the implementation of municipal heat plans. In our upcoming stakeholder workshop, we will present the latest features of the tool and explain their application in detail.

The workshop is free of charge and will take place on 18 November 2026 from 13:00 to 16:00. It is particularly aimed at local authorities, municipalities, energy agencies, municipal utilities, planning consultancies, universities, research institutions, and all other stakeholders working on municipal heat planning as well as the modelling and analysis of energy systems. Please note that the workshop will be held in German.

The workshop will focus on the following topics:

  • Modelling of district heating networks with the OpenPlan Tool
  • Further use cases from municipal heat planning
  • Creation of demand and generation time series
  • Introduction to oemof-eesyPlan

The new features will be presented using practical examples and placed in the context of municipal heat planning. We will demonstrate how the OpenPlan Tool can be used to analyse and plan future heat supply systems.

In addition to presenting the new functionalities, the workshop will provide an opportunity for questions, discussion and exchange. The experiences and feedback of users are an important part of the tool’s continuous development.

We warmly invite you to join us and look forward to your participation and a constructive exchange.

Please note: The event will be recorded and subsequently published on our YouTube channel.
