Dear openmod peeps,
Today, Open Energy Transition has launched a new open-source benchmarking tool and website for comparing optimization solvers for energy system modeling. The website, Open Energy Benchmark, is an open-source, interactive, and reproducible platform where you can currently compare five LP/MILP solvers (HiGHS, SCIP, CBC, GLPK, and Gurobi) across 120 benchmarks from modeling frameworks such as PyPSA, GenX, Sienna, PowerModels, Tulipa, TEMOA, and TIMES. You can customize filters on the interactive dashboard and see detailed visualizations.
It is built by Open Energy Transition with support from Breakthrough Energy. A lot of people has been involved to make this project well-grounded in the community and up to highest standard.
If you are on LinkedIn, you can find the launch post here, please share it with everyone who might be interested. The next few weeks, we’ll feature user interviews.
Most importantly, try it out yourself at openenergybenchmark.org and you can contribute on GitHub.
Kind regards,
Charlotte
