Open heat pump datasets

Dear all,

I am hoping to locate open data on heat pump use. I know of two primary sources in the UK, but I am hoping to find a couple of references from other countries. I have also seen a DE dataset, however this does not have the heat output of the heat pump (something I am keen to include).

I would be very grateful for your recommendations.

The data that I know of is this:

1. Renewable Heat Premium Payment Scheme: Heat Pump Monitoring: Cleaned Data, 2013-2015. UK Data Service. SN: 8151, http://doi.org/10.5255/UKDA-SN-8151-1. About 400 homes with 2 min heat pump data.

2. Electrification of Heat Demonstration Project: Heat Pump Performance Cleansed Data, 2020-2022. UK Data Service. SN: 9050, DOI: http://doi.org/10.5255/UKDA-SN-9050-1. About 550 homes with 2 min heat pump data.

3. Schlemminger, M., Ohrdes, T., Schneider, E. et al. Dataset on electrical single-family house and heat pump load profiles in Germany. Sci Data 9, 56 (2022). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41597-022-01156-1. 38 homes with detailed electrical data – however no heat flow data.

A TIMES-DTU (Technical University of Denmark) model of the Danish energy system is utilised for analysis out to 2050.

There’s also the OpenEnergyMonitor.org community which may suit itself to creating your own dataset.

I recommend reading the validation as it describes the difficulties with using measurement data and some considerations specific to the dataset.

I was going to recommend looking at Zenodo but @robbie.morrison did that already :wink:

(We also have a dataset there, but this is synthetic data from simulation models, not real data)

For instance it seems this one has both power consumption and heat production data (but no data on temperatures). I picked it randomly , there might be better choices.
