Looking for open access, up-to-date, solar panel data from satellites

Hello everyone,

I’m working on a project along focusing on solar panel adoption in Mali. As part of this, we are trying to get a sense of the extent to which small solar panels are being adopted in rural areas. Does anyone know of a open and up to date global solar panel dataset based on satellite imagery? I know its possible to recognize solar panels from satellite images, but I am struggling to find a data set that is up to date and meets my purposes. Part of the problem may be that most of the solar panel adoption in Mali happened in the past few years and doesn’t show up on data sets that end in 2020 or 2021.

Even if you don’t know of anything, thanks for reading my request:)

Hi @s.michelini, I know of these two datasets, but I have never worked with either of them.

Hi! Back in 2024 at the Openmod Workshops in Grenoble TransitionZero presented their methodology of tracking PV installations quarterly.
