We are excited to announce the opening of PhD position(s) focused on advancing the modelling and optimization of sustainable energy systems at DESTEC, University of Pisa! As energy distribution and transmission become increasingly vital to sustaining the energy transition and supporting system decarbonization, this project aims to develop and enhance global power and energy system models such as PyPSA, PyPSA-Eur, PyPSA-Earth, and PyPSA-Distribution.
We thank Open Energy Transition for co-sponsoring the position.
Deadline: 22/08/2024 @ 13.00 Italian time
Contacts: davide.fioriti@unipi.it
Project overview
Objective: Contribute to the cost-effective pathways for integrating renewable energy sources into the power sector, potentially encompassing transportation, heating, industry, and more, to the candidates’ liking.
Make the difference: Provide novel modelling tools to support technical and policy-making efforts for strategic decarbonization planning.
Grow: Enhance at your liking skills in optimization and energy models, like PyPSA, PyPSA-Eur, PyPSA-Earth, and PyPSA-Distribution, and project handling
Innovate: Perform novel methodologies and studies to identify optimal energy mixes and contribute to the energy transition.
Collaborate: Engage in the vibrant community of PyPSA meets Earth, the team at Open Energy Transition, and the many multi-disciplinary projects of the Power Systems Team at UniversitĂ di Pisa, including RESILIENT and H2Global projects among others.
