If anyone is interested in helping to extract hourly demand data by balancing authority/(utility?) in the US, I’ve started digging into FERC 714. This is work in progress, with the code available as a gist notebook that can be downloaded or opened in Google Colab. If there is interest in contributing to the code I can move it to github repo to accept pull requests. Otherwise any feedback via comments is appreciated.
One of my goals is to match the FERC respondents to EPA IPM regions, probably matching with entities in EIA-861 and possibly via county-level data. Does anyone have previous experience that might help with this process or a proposed alternative method? Full IPM region coverage will also need zonal data within the ISOs (going back to ~2010).
