Call for machine learning datasets on climate & energy

The Lacuna Fund has launched a call for proposals to develop datasets for machine learning for climate. Lacuna Fund’s funding process focuses on datasets for equitable climate outcomes and this call will be administered in two tracks: climate & energy and climate & health.

Quick links:

Request for Proposals (RFP) Summary: Machine learning holds great promise to understand, mitigate, and adapt to climate change but is hampered by a lack of ground truth data—especially in low- and middle-income contexts where people are disproportionately impacted. Open and accessible datasets are needed for energy and health applications related to climate, especially in Africa, Latin America, and South and Southeast Asia.

Please refer to the full RFP for further details on the application process, including eligibility, timeline and selection. Please note that lead applicants must be headquartered in or have a substantial partnership in Africa, Latin America, or South or Southeast Asia.

Proposals are due by 17 July 2022.

Collaboration resources: To foster the formation of collaborations and partnerships on submissions to the Lacuna Fund RFP, Climate Change AI is providing a digital partnership platform. This platform is a space where teams or individuals seeking collaboration can connect and find potential partners. For those interested, we would like to invite you to join the Lacuna Fund space on the CCAI Community Platform and the CCAI Community Directory.
