15 power systems around the world
The plots are generated just for fun by @ekatef, @davidsf and @MaxParzen, building on the code of @fabianhofmann → Fabian Hofmann. The code for the plots is open-source and available here and requires executing PyPSA-Earth. Limitation. For most countries, we scaled solar and wind capacities with IRENA stats, for others, we cleaned out the solar and wind capacities. We can improve with better data and/or approximations. A good representation of today’s energy and power system is critical for good short-term to mid-term investment and operation planning.
