OpenMod workshop Freiburg 2026 - Breakout Groups
This topic is to collect breakout groups for the Freiburg workshop scheduled for 28–29 September 2026. The freiburg-workshop-2026 tag lists all topics relevant to this event.
About
Breakout groups are interactive sessions of either 1.5 or 3 hours dedicated to a particular topic, challenge, tool, or collaborative activity. They are one of the central parts of the workshop and are intended to create space for active exchange, collaboration, and getting things done together.
We warmly encourage participants to propose creative and interactive formats. Breakout groups may take many different forms, including tutorials, workshops, hackathons, write-a-thons, document-a-thons, discussion groups, collaborative coding sessions, brainstorming sessions, or other experimental “do-a-thon” formats.
The goal should be to actively involve participants and foster collaboration around a shared question, challenge, dataset, tool, or idea. For example, breakout groups could focus on:
- teaching or learning a specific method or tool,
- collaboratively developing ideas or position papers,
- prototyping software or workflows,
- improving documentation,
- analysing or cleaning datasets,
- discussing methodological challenges,
- or jointly exploring new research directions.
Multiple presenters/organizers are supported.
